Beautiful on you

I have a little thing for this yarn. And it's not just the over-the-top name, which combines "luxury," "tradition," and "diamond."  It's a chunky yarn, very squishy, which makes it great to work with. It's even better to wear. It's easy on the needles because it doesn't split or shed. Best of all, everything I've seen made with it ends up enhancing the loveliness of the wearer. Could you ask more from a yarn?

See what we mean? We asked two of our local teens to model for us. Beautiful.

Because it's a wool/acrylic/nylon blend, it's completely machine washable. We carry it in 13 colors. At $8.50 for 137 yards, it's an affordable project staple.

A one-skein wonder. Fast & gorgeous.

We've Fallen in Love with Berroco Mykonos

One of the new yarns that House Mountain Yarn Co. stocks is Berroco Mykonos, a lovely fingering weight yarn made from linen, nylon, and cotton. We fell in love with the bold colors and the amazing texture of the yarn. It's somehow sleek, shiny, and springy at the same time! We can't wait to knit with it! While we're busy knitting a shop sample, we'll leave you with some gorgeous photos to contemplate.

Community

House Mountain is an iconic feature in Lexington and Rockbridge County, Virginia. It's made up of two peaks--Little House Mountain and Big House Mountain. Local artists paint, draw, and photograph House Mountain, and regional art galleries display their works. If you've lived around here for any length of time, you are able to recognize the landmark's iconic and graceful silhouette.

Four years ago, Erin Hutchinson opened The Stitchin' Post in downtown Lexington, Virginia. Her shop has been a place to enjoy yarn, to meet fellow knitters and crocheters, and learn new skills--a community gathering place. Like House Mountain, Erin's yarn shop has become a part of the local landscape.

We've named our yarn shop House Mountain Yarn Co. to honor communities: the communities of Lexington and Rockbridge County, Virginia, where we're fortunate to live and work, and more importantly, the community of knitters and crocheters who had the good fortune to come together at Erin Hutchinson's Stitchin' Post--a community that we hope will find a new and welcoming home at House Mountain Yarn Co.
