Description:

Learn the basic brioche stitches. Make circular sample – (changes color each round). Make a straight swatch sample – (each row is done twice with each color). Add twists by inc. and dec. Become familiar with brioche abbreviations(vary with designer). “Reading” the brioche stitch. Begin a pattern of individual choice. Provide access to simple pattern for each basic use (Hat / cowl • Scarf )

Materials Needed:

  • 16 / 24 inch circulars – 4 to 8 size needles

  • 100 – 200 yds of 2 contrasting colors (Light and Dark contrast)

  • Dk to worsted weight yarn

 Cost: $25 plus materials

For our December Knit Along, we’re giving you the choice of two cowls—the 3 Color Cashmere Cowl or the Peeping Cowl—both by knitwear designer Joji Locatelli. Choose the 3 Color Cashmere Cowl if you want to practice a simple lace pattern or choose the Peeping Cowl if you want to practice knitting cable stitches. Both cowls are simple and quick. The sample in the image is knit with a Manos del Uruguay Fino mini skein Dorothea set. (All Manos mini skein sets have names that sound like they were plucked straight from a Jane Austen novel.)

Description:

Learn to make a basic mitten. Students should be familiar with casting on and basic knitting and purling stitches. Students will learn to increase, decrease, place stitches on holder for later use, and the Kitchener Stitch.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 skein of Noro Kureyon Air

  • 1 set of DPN’s US 10.5

  • 1 stitch holder (piece of yarn can substitute)

  • 1 stitch marker (piece of yarn can substitute)

  • 1 tapestry needle

 Cost: $30 plus materials
